It is undeniably true that we are watching an ever-swelling movement of support for Senator Barack Obama as he marches through Democratic primaries on a presumtive path to the nomination.
Perhaps this voyage has been extended by recent events in Ohio and Texas, but it is not difficult to believe he is on a path towards some destiny his supporters have divined through their own best hopes and wishes. Obama himself has recognized how so many have conceived him to be an embodiment of their own vision of the great end to our intensely partisan political reality.
The latest sign of the Obamalypse appeared as an op-ed piece in yesterday's Chicago Tribune. In it, television producer Gary David Goldberg paints the picture of Alex Keaton, the famously young Republican "Family Ties" show character, preparing to become an Obamacan.
It's one thing to have thousands of voters flocking to arenas, riding the emotion, listening to the call and marking their ballots for Obama because their own definition of change is one they believe he embodies.
But when we're faced with fictional characters crossing over to drink the Barackool-aid (note to readers: as a Kraft alum I use that reference with due care), we've either slipped down the rabbithole or galloped closer to an end times that may be more than rational reason can delay.
