The Rowanspun 4-ply cardigan that I'm making for Ellie is coming along, though slowly. I thought I might do a Sitcom Chic kind of thing, construction-wise, but then changed my mind...though now I forget why. Do you know a phrase I like? Instant classic. As in, "That Sitcom Chic pattern was an instant classic."
I don't think I've ever posted a pic of my SChic, but I wear it a lot in sweater weather. I used Cotton Ease (RIP), and it's Cubs blue. Whenever I see it, I think of the weekend my youngest sister graduated from college because I was working on it while we were there. She's getting married in October. Good God.
Speaking of past completed items, I am getting a ton of use out of my Petulance top, in white Linen Drape. Here's an already-posted photo, just to show what I'm talking about:
If I thought I could finish them before I was 60, I would take all of my precious Linen Drape (RIP) and turn it into similar tops. Or I think I would, anyway. I'll be so sad when all that crisp, cool potential is realized. But my real point is that I am getting a lot of use out of this...and I got over my apprehension about throwing Linen Drape into the washing machine, too, which is a triumph of reason over fear.
Here's another phrase I like: hair-mussing good. Ellie waits till she has a lot of food on her hands, then rubs them in her hair. She's good at it. So I'm turning that into a positive -- "these cookies are hair-mussin' good." Though without the actual demonstration in adult company, unless you really want to. Please use this compliment whenever you can. Maybe one of the judges on Project Runway will tell Vincent Libretti that his design is hair-mussin' good!
Hi Mary - Your daughter is a doll! Please write up that pattern - it's so cute. I had a great time meeting everyone last night.

mmm, hair-mussin' good! that's funny.
i'd like to make a sitcom chic too - but i'm torn about making the sleeves 3/4 or full-length. i think it's cuter with the shorter sleeves but it can get drafty. decisions, decisions...
